Jigsaw Jewellery...

Had a great day at the school fair so after going to the cinema I came home and made this...quite simply a necklace and earring set made from a jigsaw!

Possibly the most original thing I have ever made...

I have finished it!

After days of mithering over how to execute Ollie's amazing idea I have finally managed to finish it to a standard that I am happy with. I made it initially on tigertail which was all strung with red seed beads but I didnt like it and therefore would never wear it...so here it is take 2...



The story goes like this...this necklace is a vocal score made into jewellery but not just any vocal score, we sat and thought about it and decided what would look good and what song meant a lot to me so the final choice is 'Eleanor Rigby'...this necklace actually has the vocal score for the part of the Beatles classic...it says 'Eleanor Rigby' in music speak he he...feel free to check this is true but I swear it is. I would like to think this has never been done before and it took a lot of working, especially fashioning a rest symbol out of tiny wire! he he

Starburst bracelet...

Hello everyone,

I made this last night just because I felt like it! It is made from 2 pieces of 1mm wire that has been wrapped with 0.6mm wire. I added some shell and glass beads in a starburst formation on the top to make this striking piece! I am going to make more in different colours and make a new line for them in my summer collection :)

Summertime necklace

Hello everyone,

I had a brainstorm the other day at work and hurridly scribbled a drawing down for an idea I had for a necklace. As most people will have realised I love symmetry in my designs and really struggle with making asymmetrical jewllery but I think I may have finally overcome that fear as this is the result of that scribbled drawing...

I just love those butterfly beads and I got them from my newly discovered local Hartlepool bead shop!! I am feeling very summery now and it sparkles so beautifully in the sunshine :)

New button earrings and fimo roses!

Good morning everyone!

I was a little busy this weekend making some jewellery and this is what I made...


New line of button earrings, I cant make them fast enough at the moment, I am selling out as soon as I make them! I also made some new fimo roses so I can recreate my rose garden necklace in different colours as people always comment about it. I love making these little roses and cant wait to turn them into a piece of jewellery :)

My macbook cover :)

Hello everyone,

I bought a new laptop last week and have been looking around for a protective cover for it but they have either been far too expensive or just not pretty enough! So i decided to make my own...originally I was going to make a felt one but then thought again so I bought some ultra thick wadding instead. I remembered I had some beautiful material from IKEA that I still hadn't used so I thought this would be a great opportunity as it is very heardwearing material...perfect!


So here it is, my new little creation, its a very simple idea but I didnt want an external carry case as I always carry my laptop in my shoulder bag or rucksack so this cover will keep it safe and scratch free whilst it is in transit :) The flap just folds in when the laptop is inside for a snug and cosy fit!

Summery fun!

Good evening everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely Sunday, I know I have :)

Here are a couple of things I made last night...the first picture shows a selection of semi precious gemstone pendants I made for my semiprecious collection. They are made from Tigers eye, Cherry Quartz and Fluorite.

The second picture is a floatie shell necklace made with gold tigertail and some beautiful pieces of shell.

Hello everyone, I am back and in business!!!!

Wow it has been over a month since I last posted! Crazy hectic times are hopefully over now so I can get back to some serious crafting :) I have moved house since my last post so crafting has not been at the top of my agenda for some time sadly but now we are settled in I am back at my desk and working away on some new ideas. I havn't totally forgotten about making jewellery over the past month, in fact far from it! I have been designing a lot and I have so many new and cool ideas I would love to try out :)

Other good news is that I have been given money from the Prince's Trust so Jewellery Gems is well and truly in business now! I am so happy about this so I have also been spending a lot of time sorting out tax and bank accounts...all the fun stuff but also designing some new business cards and thinking of new ways to promote the business.

I am officially starting to teach jewellery making as soon as I get my venue booked so if you are interested in a class and you are in or around the Hartlepool/Durham area then get in touch! In other good news I have a school fair on the 11th July at Throston Primary in Hartlepool and a craft fair on the 29th August in Durham Town Hall so if you are around pop in and say hello...you'll be able to spot me as I will be in the 'I love Jewellery Gems' T shirt!

Wirework fun...

Hello everyone,

I feel like I havnt made anything in ages and I probably havnt as I have been so busy....a few days of not making anything feels like an eternity! he he

Anyhoos here are my new makes....

A beaded wire flower brooch made to go on my new mac and a twisted wire starburst necklace. I already have one of these in a red/purple/pink colour scheme but I wanted a neutral one as I wear the other loads....I think I may make some other colours for sale too :)

PMC ring

Hello everyone,

I have made my first ring out of PMC eventually! It has been something I have been meaning to do for a while and I am so pleased I finally made it :) This baby is 99.9% silver so it is a bit more special than sterling silver!!


I kept it quite simple by doing a simple band but I did texture the clay to give it something of interest! I may dip it in liver of sulphur to colour it but I havnt quite decided yet he he...I think this week is going to be a lot of PMC makes!

New makes and altered jewellery...

Hello everyone,

Just a little post to show off what I have been up to the past few days. First of all in a necklace which I have 'altered' to make it my own. It started off life as 2 necklaces from the new look sale (£3 each), I really loved the colours and the chunky pendant but I felt it needed something more so I bought 2. I kept one as it was but shortened it and then hacked the second one to bits to make a shorted chain with danlges and a pair of matching earrings! I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out :)

The second make is a bracelet made from handmade lampwork beads which have been wirewrapped into a bracelet and I added some swarovski crystals for that added sparkle that I love so much! I am a bit obsessed with pink and green, even my new lovelinks bracelet I bought is bright pink and green :)
